Purpose


Contributes to the overall success of the DCM/DPG Origination in Europe ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.

Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.



Accountabilities 


Develop and maintain high quality EEA client relationships with SSA, Corporate and FIG issuer clients to uncover capital markets funding and hedging opportunities. Work will be articulated along the following dimensions:

SSA Coverage

The Role will partner with and support the Managing Director of Capital Markets to lead coverage for all continental EEA SSA issuers in cooperation with another Dublin-based capital markets officer. The role will also benefit from the support of the London-based SSA & Pan-European syndicate

Expected time allocation: 35%

FIG Coverage

The Role will partner with and support the Managing Director of Capital Markets to lead coverage for all continental EEA FIG issuers (while noting that only a handful of FIG issuers require active pitching/pricing discussions) in cooperation with another Dublin-based capital markets officer. The role will also benefit from the support of the London-based SSA & Pan-European syndicate .

Expected time allocation: 10%

Corporate DCM Coverage

The Role will be the lead coverage officer for all continental EEA Corporate issuers in cooperation with another Dublin-based capital markets officer. In line with the strategic ambition of leveraging the corporate franchise in the Canada and US capital markets, the Role will be supported by the Toronto and NY Origination teams, which possess the relevant product expertise.

As the portfolio of Corporate relationship is undergoing a phase of refocusing away from certain industry sectors and into newly identified opportunities, in an initial phase the Role would support Corporate Banking and Senior Capital Markets Officers in identifying prospect clients and assessing their likely future profitability

Expected time allocation: 25%

Corporate DPG Coverage

The Role will be the lead coverage officer for all continental EEA Corporate issuers and will act in coordination with Scotiabank’s DPG desks globally to identify relevant products and opportunities.

As the portfolio of Corporate relationship is undergoing a phase of refocusing away from certain industry sectors and into newly identified opportunities, in an initial phase the Role would support Corporate Banking and Senior Capital Markets Officers in identifying prospect clients and assessing their likely future profitability

General Conduct Accountabilities

Ensure the adequacy, adherence and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk management Framework, AML / ATF Global handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct

The role has been identified as a Central Bank of Ireland prescribed Controlled Function. The incumbent is therefore required to have the relevant fitness and probity to carry out the role and responsibilities in such a manner that the incumbent can comply with the Central Bank of Ireland 2011 Fitness & Probity Standards, as applicable to the role.   In general, the Fitness & Probity Standards require the role holder to:

be competent and capable;

act honestly, ethically and with integrity; and

be financially sound.


Education and Experience

Relevant capital markets experience

Marketing / technical expertise to cover SSA, FIG and Corporate clients, interfacing with London/ New York/ Canada DCM/DPG and Syndicate desks

Knowledge of derivatives pricing
