Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Global Fixed Income – Origination business line in EMEA ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.

Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

This role falls into scope under the Certification Regime and requires the individual to be internally ‘Certified’ as a significant harm function.



Accountabilities

Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

The Associate/ Associate Director is responsible for delivering Scotiabank’s Global Fixed Income - Origination products (both bond and derivative) to corporate clients by identifying and cultivating business opportunities within her coverage area.

The incumbent will coordinate with corporate bankers, traders, senior management, legal counsel, onboarding, and compliance for the origination, approval, and closing of transactions. In this role, she will arrange and conduct presentations and meetings with clients and prospects.

The Associate/ Associate Director will also draft deal memos in support of transactions for internal credit/risk review, as well as review internal credit approval requests prepared by the banking department.

Participate in the negotiation and execution of transaction documentation.

The incumbent must work independently within a team environment in a very competitive marketplace. The incumbent must have broad product knowledge and be able to interpret a variety of economic, financial and political events in order to satisfy clients’ requirements.

Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Code of Conduct.

Dimensions

Cover EMEA clients with respect to DPG & DCM, inclusive of their Canadian, US, and LATAM requirements, with the support and under the supervision of senior colleagues

Coordination with other GBM and Scotia departments for cooperation in cross sell to clients

Effective communication skills to effectively direct people, converse globally with peers across platforms and divisions

FCA registered


Education/Experience

University degree or equivalent

Advanced business training and strong interpersonal skills

Knowledge of bond as well as fixed income derivative valuation

In addition:

DCM and DPG experience in EMEA, Canada, US, and LATAM markets; AND/OR

Experience in an interest rate and credit derivative sales role within the global marketplace; AND/OR

Understanding of current risk-management methodologies and strategies
