Securities lending trader, working within the Prime Services team.
Responsibility for pricing, trading, collateral management, dividend exposure and regulatory compliance.
Ownership of designated European markets for client coverage and active matchbook trading. Additionally, expected to develop and promote global trading activity.
Daily interaction with internal and external clients; including hedge funds, agency lenders, broker dealers, vendors etc.
Mitigate risk through effective exposure management processes and controls; working in partnership with key stakeholders including credit, risk management, product control, tax, senior management and operations.
Promote the securities lending business throughout the industry and position Scotiabank for long-term opportunities.
Expectation to actively cross sell within prime services and other areas of the bank; liaising with relationship managers to improve the profitability of existing relationships.
Align with internal business partners to ensure new business and clients can be serviced according to expectations.
Actively track and communicate counterparty and market intelligence to appropriate internal stakeholders.
Contributes to product development, marketing initiatives and trading opportunities based on data and market insights.Experience/Education
Bachelor’s degree, Advanced degree MBA or CFA a plus though not essential
Solid relevant/transferable work experience
Good level of familiarity with Excel and general data manipulation e.g. VBA
High degree of self-motivation and initiative required to generate new business opportunities and maintain trading and sales momentum.
Candidate should be familiar with navigating large organizations to identify decision makers and influencers.
Excellent interpersonal, sales, negotiating and relationship management skills.
