Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the European Electronic Trading Desk in London, UK ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.





Accountabilities

Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

Participate in the ongoing development of the European Electronic Trading Desk in London.

Be instrumental in client onboarding and certification, and will develop in-depth working relationships with Scotia’s global clients, key electronic trading vendors, internal interest groups and executing brokers.

Extensive understanding of European equity trading and in-depth FIX connectivity knowledge, EMS and OMS systems, and DEA client workflows to bring onboard clients as well as to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the EU DEA service.

Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Champions a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.

Dimensions

FIX Client & executing broker on-boarding, vendor and client certification and integration on ULLINK low-touch system.

Participating in the electronic trading support activities include: pre-market/SOD, EOD (e.g. client bookings) and first & second line support duties.

Communicating issues/resolutions/status updates in a timely fashion to internal management / groups, vendors, executing brokers and clients.

Define and document procedures to improve internal work flow and client onboarding forms.

Education/Experience

Degree in Computer Science (or related) highly recommended

Understanding of European Equities markets as well as client side books, allocations and confirmations.

Strong background in FIX, client onboarding, trouble shooting, risk monitoring, testing and certification process and lifecycle is mandatory.

Experience on working on ULLINK and TradeGuard systems is highly desirable.

Proactive approach to electronic trading support activities.

Programming experience in Java, VB/VBA, Shell, Perl, C, Ruby - any listed is necessary. SQL knowledge is required.

Familiarity with Linux/Unix tools with respect to search/replace, log analysis and system health.

Solid experience of financial IT or FIX onboarding position

Detail-oriented and able to prioritize work and effectively manage multiple tasks

Excellent communication and client-facing skills

High energy, positive attitude, fast learner and proactive
