Purpose

Provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight for the Specialized Finance team in Europe ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are supported in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.



Accountabilities

Leads a team to originate new Specialized finance opportunities and manages a portfolio of client coverage across UK & European corporate markets

Leads sponsor backed transactions including structuring and execution of leverage & acquisition finance transactions, as well as general corporate finance activities (e.g. financial modeling analysis, review, valuations).

Supervises execution process, including full review of marketing materials, oversight & training of junior resources and completion of mandates.

Works closely with Investment Banking to support debt advisory by providing structuring of complex/bespoke capital structure / financing solutions

Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture.

Takes responsibility for specific projects and drive the process

Maintains communication and ongoing contact with client representatives.

Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.

Education/Experience


Academic:

Ideal candidate will possess a relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification and have an excellent academic and professional record.

Masters-level/MBA education is high preferred.

CFA or equivalent designation is an asset.

Functional competencies:

Established experience in debt advisory / leverage finance with proven track record of working with PE clients

Strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting and financial theory.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to lead a transaction approval process from end to end

Previous credit analysis experience

High degree of intellectual curiosity.

The ability to manage multiple clients/transactions simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of work.

Strong presentation skills.

Proven ability to manage a team
