Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Prime Services business in Europe ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.



Accountabilities

Grow the existing client base, working closely with Origination and Hedge Fund coverage in all regions, and other Global Capital Markets teams in Europe to cross-sell

Contribute to the relationship management of existing Prime Services clients, be they North American with trading activity in Europe, or European asset managers with trading activity in Europe, North America and Latin America.Look to stretch existing clients both across regions and in revenue

Support and deliver European product to multi-regional clients, in particular North American asset managers

Evolve Scotiabank’s branding presence in Europe through participation in industry events, contributing to thought-leadership and industry publications

Contribute towards a cohesive European Prime Services sales plan to include all aspects of origination, including Prime Brokerage and execution, Cross Selling across Capital Markets and to the corporate bank, and the Liquid Alts 81-102 initiative in Canada

The ideal candidate will also have experience in Hedge Fund coverage and understand typical transactions, and be able to help at busy times

Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Code of Conduct.

Champions a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.

Education/Experience

A proven track record of sales success

A highly networked individual who can enable meetings with new relationships to the bank

Strong relationships with existing clients that could drive a step-change in business would be an advantage

Dimensions

Origination of Prime Services relationships for Europe, working with North America to represent European product to US and Canadian clients, European Hedge Fund Coverage and other Global Capital Markets teams in Europe to cross-sell

Originate business with CAD 5mm of annualised P&L from new clients

Ideally the candidate will also have experience in Hedge Fund coverage and understand typical transactions, and be able to help at busy times.

Operate under the FCA and PRA regulatory bodies, and OSFI
