Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Human Resources team in UK ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The HR Advisor provides proactive and responsive advisory and administration support to business client groups in London, as well as stakeholders within the broader HR team including HR Business Partners and Senior Recruitment Manager.



Accountabilities

Onboarding

Contract / Offer Letter generation.

Welcome letters / emails to prospective joiners.

Works closely with and manages external vendors & stakeholders (Vetting, Medical, Agencies) to ensure that all pre-employment checks are completed.

Updating and maintaining HR Systems (EC) and liaising with the HR systems team in Toronto as required.

Responsible for coordinating and delivering new joiner Day 1 Inductions.

Ensure all relevant new joiner onboarding checklists are completed in a timely manner.

Ensuring ‘Right to Work’ checks are carried out in line with Home Office requirements.

Engaging with Global Mobility and external immigration advisors and supporting in the coordination of work visa applications.

Pro-actively monitor and maintain the Visa and Immigration status of sponsored workers, updating appropriate trackers and informing immigration advisors of any job changes.

Provide support to Senior Recruitment Manager in relation to Intern and Graduate recruitment and onboarding.

Employee Lifecyle Management

First point of contact for employees in relation to HR queries, managing the central HR inbox responding in a timely and professional manner.

Creation of employment letters including, but not limited to, employment references, salary changes, probation confirmations and other job related changes.

Proactively works with managers to flag employees 3 months and 6 month probation reviews and discuss any performance or ER concerns, escalating to the Senior HR Manager and Business Partners as required.

Confidential minute/note taking at sensitive employee meetings where required.

Provide advice and support to line mangers in relation to HR Policies and Procedures.

HR Operations and Projects

Provide support to the HR team and business as requested.

Actively contributing to and implementing projects that improve HR processes and/or improve the employee experience.

Assist/Lead adhoc HR projects on a local and global level.

Support Learning and Development initiatives in London

Managing and tracking contractor/ consultant staff e.g. liaising with agencies, onboarding, NDAs

Support SMCR Senior Manager with activities related to the Senior Manager and Certified Person’s regime from offer to the annual certification cycle.

Updating and checking weekly/monthly attestations.

Providing cover for the other HR Advisors as required.

Any other duties as reasonably requested.

Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Code of Conduct.

Contributes to a high performance environment and fosters an inclusive work environment; supporting the vison/values/business strategy for the team.

Education/Experience

Educated to a high standard – minimum A levels (or equivalent) as standard

Relevant work experience in Human Resources (essential)

CIPD qualification or an interest/ambition in working towards (desirable).

Demonstrated collaborative working and having a ‘client service’ approach to work

Familiar and comfortable with the HR space/terminology/employee lifecycle. 

Excellent written skills and articulate in speech

Ability to work autonomously with established practices and co-operate with others

Displays initiative and ability to apply previous knowledge/precedents when presented with a problem

Comfortable with managing multiple stakeholders and priorities.

Excellent Microsoft skills (including Outlook) are essential.
