Contributes to the overall success of the UK GRM ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.
Responsible for oversight of stress testing, risk and capital analytics and model risk in relation to
Scotiabank London.
Accountabilities
The accountabilities are divided into the following categories:
Stress Testing
Enhance the local governance and control process to ensure robust oversight of the stress testing conducted on the London portfolios by the global Enterprise Stress Testing (EST) team
Provide regular communication on the vulnerabilities in the London portfolio based on analysis of stress testing results
Maintain knowledge of all stress testing programs relevant/applicable for London and ensure full coverage
Keep updated with relevant policies and frameworks to ensure adherence to local requirements and alignment with global methodologies
Design the stress scenarios for Scotiabank London’s annual regulatory deliverables such as Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP), Recovery Plan, and Revere Stress Testing and working with the EST team on implementation
Risk and Capital Analytics (RCA)
Develop an understanding of the bank’s risk measurement, quantification and modeling methodologies for capital, credit risk, market risk and operational risk as the relate to the London businesses
Work with the global RCA team on matters affecting London
Model Risk
Enhance the local governance and control process around model risk to ensure models used locally are fit for purpose
Maintain an inventory of models used for London and work with global Model Risk Management teams to keep the list updated
Keep up with changes to models and understand and document the impact on the London portfolios
Reporting of model risk related issues
Any other work efforts assigned by management.
Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Code of Conduct.
Contributes to a high-performance environment and fosters an inclusive work environment; supporting the vison/values/business strategy for the team
Experience working in a controls related team
Organisational skills and attention to detail
Proven ability to multi-task and as a self-starter
Financial Services experience essential.
Skills
Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio
Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills to deal with all levels of staff
Strong communication skills both written and verbal
Ability to work independently
